Nollywood actor and filmmaker Rotimi Salami is giving back to his roots with a new initiative designed to spot and nurture fresh acting talent in the Ojo area of Lagos State.

The project, titled “Project Make a Star in Ojo”, will run under the Rotimi Salami Film Academy in partnership with Ojo Local Government. The aim is simple but powerful: identify promising young performers from the community, provide professional training, and give them a real platform to shine.

Speaking on Biola Bayo’s podcast Talk to B, Salami opened up about his deep connection to the area. Born in Surulere but raised in Ajangbadi, Ojo, he credits the community for shaping who he is today.

“I’m a full Ajangbadi breed,” he said. “I want to give back to the people who raised me. That’s why we’re doing ‘Make a Star’ here in Ojo. Our first movie from the project will be called Ojo Breed, and 80% of the cast and crew will most likely come from Ojo.”

Salami emphasised that the initiative is about more than just making a film — it’s about creating opportunities for talented young people who might otherwise be overlooked.

He also made it clear that the project is open to partnerships. From sponsors and production support to training resources, he’s inviting collaborations to help bring the vision to life.

With his track record as an AMVCA winner and respected figure in Nollywood, this move could become a meaningful step in discovering and uplifting the next generation of actors from grassroots communities.

More details about auditions, training sessions, and the production timeline for Ojo Breed are expected to be announced soon.
