I’m deeply grateful to my sister Funke Akindele for the incredible love and support she showed Kilanko: The Invisible Child.
On February 11, 2026, Funke took to her Instagram page (@funkejenifaakindele) and reshared the official trailer, giving the film one of its strongest endorsements yet. The post touched thousands — likes, comments, shares — and reminded everyone why this story matters so much.
Kilanko is more than a movie. It carries the final directorial vision of our beloved Allwell Ademola, and it tells a powerful tale of belief, medicine, grief, and the quiet strength of African mothers — all through the lens of an Abiku child living with sickle cell disease. Funke’s gesture came at a time when the team has been navigating both emotional weight and real challenges at the box office.

The film premiered in Lagos on March 4, 2026. The premiere was filled with tributes to Allwell’s legacy and appreciation for everyone who believed in the project. The reviews have been encouraging, but turnout in cinemas has been slower than we hoped. That’s why moments like Funke stepping up mean everything — they help keep the conversation alive and encourage more people to experience the story.
Kilanko is still showing nationwide. If you haven’t seen it yet, I gently urge you to support it in the cinemas. Good stories need audiences to live on, and your presence in those seats makes a real difference.

From the bottom of my heart — thank you, Funke, for standing with us. And thank you to every fan, colleague, and friend who continues to show love and share the film. We appreciate you more than words can say.
